Quality Colostrum Begins with Collecting the Best Raw Material
Not all colostrum supplements are equal. Some companies use a mix of colostrum from different milking periods, reducing the bioactives. Some collect colostrum from multiple cows in the same container, limiting quality control. Some filter it to concentrate certain nutrients, which can eliminate the smallest ones (like thymosin, which is critical for immunity health).
To get the full benefits (and your money’s worth), your colostrum must be handled with extreme care—from cow to you. We’ve spent 45+ years perfecting this proprietary, cold-chain process that ensures PerCōBa® is the best supplement you can buy.

Colostrum FAQs
-
Are you denying the newborn calf of its colostrum?
No. We’ve worked with America’s top dairy farmers for decades and care deeply about animal health. Calves drink as much colostrum as they can shortly after birth (typically 2-4 liters). The new mothers often produce more than 12 liters. The excess is what is used to create PerCōBa®.
-
What is the timeframe for collecting colostrum? Is it certified?
Our first-milking colostrum is collected less than 6 hours after calving. Independent lab analysis confirms this on every production run.
-
What is the processing method? Freeze-dried or Spray-dried?
Whole colostrum powder is spray-dried in conditions where the product temperature is less than 125⁰ F. Every bioactive we have tested will survive this temperature.
-
Does the heat created when pressing lozenges damage the bioactives?
No. Lozenges are processed with a cold press.
-
Where is the product sourced?
We partner with dairy farmers to process and manufacture PerCōBa® at our headquarters in Fennimore, Wisconsin.
-
What standards do your processes and facilities live up to?
All production in our plant is subject to and compliant with the cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) of both Titles 9 (USDA) and 21 (FDA) of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). Our HACCP (Hazards Analysis and Critical Control Points) program identifies and controls potential risks at each stage of the process. Independent lab analysis confirms that product specifications have been met before release. Our facilities and processes are under the jurisdiction of the FDA and USDA.
-
Has PerCōBa® Colostrum been pasteurized?
Yes. We have a proprietary pasteurization process that protects the bioactive ingredients, and it meets all cGMP requirements for human consumption.
-
Is PerCōBa® Colostrum frozen after collection?
Yes. We do not source enough colostrum from individual farms to produce full production runs from an individual or just a few farms. There are several advantages to this:
- The production batches produced from a larger number of farms have a greater degree of diversity. This results in both obtaining the full spectrum of nutrients and greater consistency from batch to batch.
- Each cow’s colostrum is milked into individual containers, allowing the producer to make the initial determination of quality on a cow-by-cow basis.
- Since each cow’s colostrum arrives individually frozen, our highest-in-industry quality control starts at the individual cow level. Dedicated and trained personnel use laboratory equipment to test the quality from the start. Many companies collect all the colostrum on a given day in a single collection tank. This makes it impossible to evaluate quality on an individual basis.
-
Does freezing colostrum affect the biological activity (value) and solubility of colostrum?
No. We store at controlled temperatures utilizing dual low-temperature systems with less than 2⁰ C variation. This allows us to keep the colostrum safe for many months.
-
Do any of your colostrum products need to be refrigerated during transportation or storage?
No. All our colostrum products can be stored at room temperature.
-
Do lozenges contain Magnesium stearate?
Magnesium stearate is used in the lozenges. It is fully approved for use as an additive in foods and supplements by the FDA.
-
Is Raw Colostrum Better?
No. Raw colostrum is not permitted for human consumption. Raw colostrum from individual cows is extremely variable and difficult to handle. To have a consistent product, colostrum must be:
- Collected by a set of consistent criteria.
- Graded by specific quality control standards.
- Handled correctly to prevent contamination.
- Obtained from multiple cows to increase overall consistency.
- Continuously monitored for compliance and quality.
- Processed in a manner that does not destroy or remove any of the bioactive nutrients.
-
Are your colostrum products certified organic?
No. Our products are not sourced from only organic certified dairies. Less than 7% of US production is National Organic Program certified (NOP) (USDA, 2017), which is not enough production to supply the colostrum industry. If someone in the industry states that their colostrum is “organic”, ask them what that means and if their supplying herds are National Organic Program (NOP) certified.
